Tips for teaching biology with PowerPoint
- Lead with a great image. A micrograph, a diagram of an organ or a photo from nature hooks students faster than a title slide.
- Label diagrams step by step. Reveal labels one at a time on cells, the heart or a flower so students build the picture with you.
- Connect to the practical. Include method slides and results tables for microscopy, food tests and enzyme experiments.
- Use real case studies. Diseases, conservation projects and genetic conditions make the science feel relevant.
- Check understanding as you go. Add a quick question slide after each key idea.
- Finish with key words. A summary slide of definitions helps with revision and exam answers.
